The mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre; the Minister of Development, Territorial Articulation and Housing of the Junta de Andalucía, Rocío Díaz; the president of the S-Moving Organizing Committee, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón; the mayor of Santander, representing the Smart Cities Network -RECI-, Gema Igual; the mayor of Viladecans, representing the Innpulso Network, Carles Ruiz; the general director of AMETIC, Luis Pardo, and the director of Business Transformation of Telefónica, Agustín Cárdenas, have inaugurated the fourteenth edition of Greencities, Intelligence and Urban Sustainability, and the sixth of S-Moving, Intelligent Mobility and Sustainabilitye, which are held at FYCMA (Malaga Fair and Congress Palace) between today and tomorrow.
De la Torre, host in this case, has highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration for Spain to collaborate on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, he added that technological innovation must be applied “at the service of citizens” and that cities must be “more sustainable from an environmental point of view, but also economically and socially.” Finally, he has insisted on “the need to invest in education” from the most basic to the highest levels, without forgetting FP, to make the sustainable objectives of cities possible.
The Minister of Development has expressed that This forum is “a unique opportunity” to learn about the latest technological advances in mobility and sustainability and to advance in innovation, which generates “new opportunities for growth” and, therefore, “makes us progress in important areas.”
Along these lines, Gómez-Guillamón has stated that in Greencities & S-Moving mobility and intelligence come together in Spain, and has invited public and private institutions to work as a team to contribute “ideas and knowledge.”
The mayor of Santander has stated that Spain must become a “reference country in innovation” that applies new advances in technology to citizens. In addition, she emphasizes the importance of public-private collaboration to promote this issue. In this sense, the mayor of Viladecans and representative of the Innpulso Network, has assured that this forum is the appropriate space to exchange knowledge and face new challenges in innovation, a “holistic element that concerns everyone.”
Pardo, from AMETIC, has valued the importance of this event with “international projection”, since there are 14 countries represented, to contribute to a more sustainable and intelligent world, the “common” purpose of all the agents of this forum.
Cárdenas, from Telefónica, has mentioned that the future will be “digital, green and sustainable” and that it is a pride to participate in this forum, an “ecosystem that generates value” to move towards a more sustainable world, a demand from society.
Representation of more than fifty cities
The Greencities and S-Moving forums bring together this year a number of participants that exceed fifty cities in the different areas of activity of the events. The meetings are prominent protagonists, establishing relationships at the municipal and provincial level with specialized suppliers, sharing technological strategies related to each territory. In 2023 the guest city is Santander, an example of sustainable and innovative management that exposes its model within the framework of policies that revolve around the concept of smart city.
The involvement of the Innpulso network and RECI (Spanish Network of Smart Cities) enhances the municipal presence in a reference meeting for Spanish cities, in which a global vision is provided for an appropriate relationship between urban development and environments. smart and sustainable. Where the most outstanding technology, products, innovations and industrial initiatives mark the roadmap of projects in the future.
Are more than 250 entities participating in Greencities and S-Moving 2023, and more than a hundred with a presence in the exhibition areas. In turn, there are more than 200 experts and 40 panels specialized in topics related to urban management and mobility from the point of view of sustainability and digitalization.
Greencities & SMoving integrate four content spaces in FYCMA, in the case of Urban Arena, Mobility Arena, Sustainability Room and City Speakers, a novelty for this edition that unveils 12 projects related to improving quality of life, infrastructure and digitalization. It also hosts the ‘III Meeting of Urban Leaders’, with more than thirty first councilors and deputy mayors who debate innovation ecosystems through multi-governance. It is complemented by the ‘II Meeting of Urban Technicians’, with artificial intelligence taking center stage in municipal management and agenda.
Startups: entrepreneurship and innovation
Talent is present with the 2nd Open Call for Startups, a commitment to entrepreneurship and innovation to promote national and international growth related to the development and improvements of ZBEs (Low Emission Zones). About fifteen startups participate in the event showing their projects based on sustainable mobility and smart cities. To close the forum, the winning startup will be chosen from among those selected with projects related to ZBE.
