He Palace of Fairs and Congresses of Malaga welcomes the International Congress ‘TURITEC 2018’ which was inaugurated this Wednesday and which has become a benchmark in the investigation of Information and Communication Technologies applied to tourism.
Organized by the Faculty of Tourism of the UMA, celebrates its twelfth edition with the aim of analyzing the latest developments in ICT and its applications in the tourism market. Thus, the Blockchain, cybersecurity or intelligent automation for the tourism of the future are some of the topics that will be addressed between today and tomorrow through conferences, round tables and communications.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Elizabeth Mª Oliver; the Minister of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía, Francisco Javier Fernandez; the mayor of Malaga, Francis of the Tower; the vice-president of the Provincial Council, Francisca Caracuel; the vice-rector for Research and Transfer of the University of Malaga, Teodomiro López, and Antonio Guevaradean of the Faculty of Tourism and organizer of the congress.
The vice-chancellor highlighted the importance of research in Tourism what is done from the UMA, key to the success of this congress. Likewise, he pointed out the direct link of this Faculty with the PTA.
“In this new edition we have received many communications from more than twenty universities in Europe”, stated the dean Anthony Guevarawho recalled that this congress has become a meeting point between universities, companies and institutions, a place to share the latest technological advances that will be implemented in the world of tourism in the coming years.
The Secretary of State, for her part, expressed her commitment to quality, sustainable and accessible tourism that is maintained by the Government. “This congress is a magnificent example of what we administrations have to do, collaborate among ourselves and count on the universities, which is the place where knowledge is generated,” she said.
Extensive program until tomorrow
After the inauguration, the conference ‘The impact of the NDC protocol (New Distribution Capability) and the 2020 plan, given by the Director of Contents at Amadeus, Luis Aparicio. Subsequently, a round table was held on cybersecurity and tourism and already, at the end of the morning, the ‘Distribution system for dynamic packages of tourism products based on Blockchain technology’ was presented.
Social media, big data, analysis of the image of destinations and companies, tourist behavior or the relationship between technological accessibility and tourism, are other aspects that will be debated today and tomorrow.
