The doctoral student of the University of Malaga Juan Carlos Quiñones has been recognized with ‘IF Design Award 2018’one of the most prestigious design awards in the world, for the creative development of a smart oven user interface for the company mychefwhere he currently works. The ‘Mychef Evolution’ oven, with an attractive design and great ease of use, achieves unprecedented levels in terms of cooking quality and, in addition, integrates ‘IoT’ technology and WIFI connection, which allow it to be managed remotely.
Thus, the oven has also obtained the award ‘Red Dot Awards: Product Design’which together with Quiñones, both internationally recognize quality in the creative and productive processes of designers and manufacturers in the creation of new products.
These awards are granted by a jury made up of the greatest design specialists from around the world who, in each call, evaluate more than 6,000 proposals from some 70 countries.
The thesis of Juan Carlos Quinonesdirected by professor Sebastian Garcia Garridodeals with ‘creative and productive processes for innovation in industrial design’, a line of study that the doctoral student has put into practice directly in the company, thereby obtaining this international distinction that highlights his degree of technical and formal innovation.
The research project is part of the PhD program in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Efficiency (IMEE), in its line of Corporate Reputation, Design and Representation in Mechanical Engineering, of the School of Industrial Engineering of the UMA, from where Juan Carlos Quinones He is a former student of the Technical Engineering in Industrial Design degree.
