The UMA will host Tecnosocial, the first fair in Spain on technology in social services and personal autonomy

A thousand professionals, including professors, researchers, workers from entities and institutions, and technology companies will participate in the University of Malaga in the coming days March 28, 29 and 30 at ‘Tecnosocial’, the first fair in Spain on technology in Social Services and Personal Autonomy.

Organized by the Junta de Andalucía -through the Ministry of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation- and the University of Malaga -through the Faculty of Social and Labor Studies (FEST)-, the event was presented today at the Rector’s Office, in an act in which the vice-rector for Equality, Diversity and Social Action of the UMA, Isabel Jiménez; the counselor for the area, Rocío Ruiz; the Councilor for Social Rights of the City Council of the capital, Francisco Javier Pomares and Lourdes Piña, responsible for Equality of the Provincial Council.

The event, in which FGUMA collaborates, will take place at the UMA Faculty, and will bring together the main actors in the sector, with the aim of publicizing scientific production in terms of social and technological innovation in the system social services public. Likewise, it will seek to promote scientific development and job creation linked to people’s quality of life, the promotion of coexistence and social cohesion.

All the institutional representatives who have participated in the event have agreed to highlight the importance of this Fair, especially in these times of pandemic, which have highlighted the deficiencies that exist in terms of social assistance. In this sense, they have alluded to the “enormous vulnerability” manifested by human beings in times of covid and have advocated changing the focus of social services towards synergies, network building and technoscience, which is nothing more than technology at the service of people.

Professional and academic congress

Parallel to ‘Tecnosocial’, a professional and academic congress will be held, with technical conferences and a forum for the analysis and dissemination of research and technological innovation in Social Services.

The activities will be articulated in three axes that will star each of the days of ‘Tecnosocial’, and that will delve into the advances and perspectives of research and innovation in Social Services. Without forgetting applied research and new technologies for coexistence and social integration.

‘Tecnosocial 2022’ is a project included in the first Andalusian Social Services Research and Innovation Plan and promoted by the Department of Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation of the Andalusian Government and the Faculty of Social and Labor Studies of the University from Malaga.

In parallel, using the space within the Faculty, in a spacious, open-plan environment, exhibitors will be set up where companies and service providers can show their experiences, support and mobility systems, accessibility and communication techniques.
